No card....... just more weather! :)

Just a quick post from me, as I thought I would share this pic.  All of the snow disappeared on Thursday morning due to the gale force winds and storm that took out our electricity out for over 30 hours.  It was blimming freezin! :)  Luckily we only have solid fuel heating, so whilst it was cold, stormy and dark, we managed to keep warm and eat soup! :D  I was quite bored though!

This picture was taken this morning from my front door as I waited for the postie.  The snow has returned, but nothing like the amount we had last week.

I hope everyone has a great weekend, and now we have electricity and internet back I will be popping round and catching up.

  3. I was wondering how you were getting on! Good move to have SF heating; I don't understand why so many people build new houses up here without even a fireplace! We got off quite lightly all things considered. The gales weren't as bad as other areas although all of our schools were closed. Gregor and I spent some time watching the roof of one of the sheds lift, flap about and then go back down again - it's still hanging on but will need some work over the holidays. So glad you're safe and warm. Hugs, Tracey xx

  10. Glad you have solid fuel heating & so managed to keep warm. That looks very treacherous - you be careful with those hounds of yours, no broken bones allowed! Thursday was dire here in the south too - I was on bookshop duty & it was very bleak indeed with torrential rain so I can imagine that further north it would have been snow. Please take care of yourselves.

  11. It is so beautiful, you have a spectacular view! Our house is in Roy Bridge, near Fort William and our neighbours have had the same trouble, they went 36 hours without electricity then the last I heard it went off again today!
Keep warm, hope that the worst is over!
have a fabulous, crafty weekend, Debxx

  12. Wow! are those clouds rolling in? it looks so pretty, but oh so cold !!!! I'm really glad you are ok Alison!!! I was wondering how you were going on in those terrible gales. Glad you have solid fuel !!! At least then you can have warmth and food!!
We always had coal fire and oil heaters when I was young - very reliable!! Unfortunately we also had outside loo up until I was about six!!!! I remember how awful it was in winter having to go out into snow or ice for the loo :-(( not so happy memories LOL
Anyway, glad your electric and internet are both back on!
    Have a great Sunday!
    Big Hugs!

  16. Hi Alison - what a gorgeous photo. This is how ignorant I am - I had no idea that it snowed in Scotland. I always thought it just rained. This scene is not new to me. We have had a great deal of snow this year. I think we have had more snow this year than we had all together last winter. I hate the snow. I love looking at it, I just don't like being cold. See not only are you a talented card maker, you are also a great photographer!! Stay warm friend.

  17. It is a beautiful scene but I'm guessing that you're not thinking that at the moment! We've been lucky in Devon, it is a bit chilly but no snow. Lots of rain though!! Annette xx

  20. Hi Alison,
Wow! That looks wintry. Are you in a part of Scotland that always gets hit with heavy snow?
My Dad in Garelochhead was snowed in for 8 weeks last November/ December. At the moment it is the winds and rain that are causing the damage.
Hope all is well other than the weather.
    hugs
