Friends - Cheery Lynn Designs

Blog Candy still open here until 6th January 2013

Hi and Good Morning and Happy New Year! :)

I hope everyone had a fabulous Christmas and New Year holiday and got lots of great stash from Santa!  I got a much needed sewing machine and I love it, its going to save me oodles of time I reckon!  Hubby thinks it will be used for stitching up ripped trousers, and making my own curtains, but I definately have no plans for any of that! - LOL :D

Anyway, its great to be back blogging after a wee break, and its also nice to be able to share someting light, fresh and not at all christmassy!

My card today is for our new challenge over at Cheery Lynn Designs where this weeks theme is 'Friends/Friendship'. As always the lucky winner will win a $20 voucher to spend online at the Cheery Lynn Store, so I hope you find time to join in.

I used a super-cute Tilda, coloured with PM's and layered MME papers and salmon pink bazzil cardstock.  This cardstock was used for all the matting and die cutting, and it cuts beautifully!

I centred my image onto scalloped and circle stackers and then onto the gorgeous Italian Flourish Doily die.   I added some Lace Corners, Butterflies and one of the cute squiggly borders from the  expandables set.  The sentiment was cut out and matted onto coved rectangle stackers - these are brill! - the smallest ones look just like tickets and with 6 sizes in each set they go big enough for most sentiment stamps too.

All dies used on this card are:

You still have lots of time to enter this challenge and the winner will be announced next Monday.  Dont forget there is always fresh and inspirational projects uploaded daily by the rest of our talented DT over on our Cheery Lynn Designs Inspiration blog too.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog today, and have a smashing week.

  2. Happy New Year Alison - sorry I've not been by for ages, but I shut the computer off over Christmas, difficult as I am addicted, but still meant I actually listened to what SHMbO was saying to me!!!!

Another lovely card - so sweet and love the colours.

Have fun with the sewing machine - mine ran out of cotton weeks ago and I've not got round to loading it up again yet!!!

  3. Happy New Year - looks like you're going to have a whale of a time with the sewing machine. Your sentiment panel caught my eye right away & I love the way you have diferent sizes of butterflies. The mouse is a real treat.

  4. I always love all your stitching and could not believe how long it must have taken you to do it all by hand. I'm sure your new sewing machine will get lots of use. Mine is also only used for papercrafting, and rarely sees any fabric (unless I'm making baggies to stamp and colour!!) It has only once in the last year seen the inside of one of hubby's pockets which needed fixing. I would strongly suggest that you do keep at least one spare needle aside for fabric (just in case you get the urge to sew fabrics) as the paper really blunts them so they're not great for fabric after a while. Hope you had a good break and I look forward to seeing your fab creations in 2013.
    Happy New Year Alison.

  18. This is another stunner Alison! Love everything about it.

I bought a sewing machine about 8 moths ago...and it's not been out of its box yet. Think I need to make space to get it out and start using it as stitching really does finish the cards off nicely.

  29. Hi Alison. I think this card is just so refreshing and beautiful all rolled into one. Your colors and the way you have used your dies to help accent this are just gorgeous. I also see that you have put that new sewing machine to good use. :O) I have been sewing for years, and made my husband 100s of shirt in that time, but when it comes to sewing on my cardstock I just seem to mess it up everytime. I keep telling myself that it's no biggy and I just need to practice, but if you ever look on my blog you will only see one card where I even braved putting anyone through the horror that is my sewing on my cards. lol.... Oh well, as my piano teacher used to always say "practice, practice PRACTICE!" Have a great week. Hugs, Lisa G
