The Godfather

I made this card for a friend who had just been asked to be a godfather to a little baby girl. :) Awww.

I told him that 'confirmed bachelors' often get asked to be godfathers, as it gives them someone to leave their 'misers' fortune to, instead of spending it all on Dr Who figures! ;) lol  (He will kill me if he reads this!)

Now I wasnt really sure about Christening cards, but I got heaps of really useful advice from my teamies at I ♥ Promarkers, and white on white seemed a popular choice.  The card is slightly softer looking in RL as the mirri board looked black until I brightened the picture a little.

I hand stitched and beaded the lace border.  I made the flowers using Marianne Dies and pearl paper, and also used spellbinders dies and card candi for lots of dimension.

I am entering this card in the following competitions:

Simon Says Stamp - Sparkle and Shine
Craft Your Days Away - White + one (pink)
Dream Valley - Old (pearl paper) New - Leaf die
One Stitch at a time - Anything Goes
The Shabby Tea Room - Photo insp, monochrome + pink
Spoon Full of Sugar - Anything goes
Fab n' Funky - Make own Blooms
PaperPlay - Sparkle
Thanks so much for visiting my blog today, and good luck to everyone entering these challenges.

Alison, you've really made me chuckle with the Dr Who figures! I know a 'confirmed spinster' who loves Dr Who and Star Trek and collects the stuff!! Maybe we should introduce them, lol!! Absolutely adore this card; white on white is just perfect for a christening card. Your beautiful stitching and flowers makes it even more special. xxx

And now I know how to spell that candi! Brilliant white on white & utterly right for this. Love your use of silver with those hints of pink - just so classy.

forgot to sayt hat the punched border makes me think of Broderie Anglaise & the die-cut panel reminds me of lace - very apt for a baby's christening gown.
