Hearts & Gears

Hi and Good Morning :)  Todays card showcases some of the stunning  Cheery Lynn Designs  Steampunk Dies!

This card is a glorious 8 x 8 inches, so a brilliant size to showcase the intricacy an detail of these dies, instead of much of them being concealed by a main image as a focal point.

Now, I had such fun making this card!  It was great to dig out some much neglected (and much maligned) silver mirri board to create a dazzling metallic effect to this design.   I layered HOTP paper and bazzil card, applying DI inks to the edges.

I created the breathtaking Gear Mesh border by matting silver card onto grey card and adding additional gears, silver stud pearls and brads.  I cut the beautiful new Daphne Doily in grey card, and used silver card to cut the Hearts n Gears to create a background for my image.  I  then matted the Kenny K digital stamp onto Silver Square Stackers and Scalloped Square stackers and added the pretty Lock and Keys and Love sentiment for a finishing touch.

All dies used on this card are:

B361 - Gear Mesh Border
B378 - Hearts n Gears
B340 - Gears
B350 - Lock and keys
DL264 - Daphne Doily
B227 - Love sentiment
L-1 - Square Classic
XL-2 - Square Scalloped Stackers

Thanks so much for visiting my blog today, and I hope you find time to join in this weeks challenge where our theme is vintage.

Have a smashing week!

Steampunk Dies

Hi and Good Morning! :)  Todays card was inspired by some of the amazing Cheery Lynn Designs Steampunk Dies!

I used a 6 x 6 inch blank card base and layered black bazzil card and MME paper, inking the edges slightly with DI.

I then cut the stunning Steampunk Clock die in metallic black and stainless steel card, and shadowed it for effect.  The image is a Kenny K digi stamp and she was coloured in PM's and backed with Steampunk Wings.  I matted and layered onto Circle Stacker and Scalloped circle stacker.

The Gears were also cut in a mix of silver and black and layered and fastened together with silver brads for a finishing touch.

All dies used on this card are:

B357 - Clock with Angel Wing - Steampunk
B340 - Gears
B359 - Steampunk Wings
XL-5 - Scalloped circle stackers
L-4 - Circle Stackers

Thanks so much for visiting my blog today, I will be posting an update on my internet woes, and lack of blogging later in the week.. :( Thank you so much for bearing with me, I miss visiting you all so much!

Have a smashing day,

I ♥ Promarkers - Travel or Transport

Hope everyone is not too soggy today? :)  We have had so much rain here, its halfway up the field and the river burst its banks about 2 days ago.  I dont mind, but I am a bit fed up of putting frogs back outside! :D lol.

Anyway, today is the start of another new challenge over at I ♥ Promarkers, and this week our theme is travel or transport.  Our fabulous sponsors again are Letraset, so its a brilliant prize and well worth playing along for.

I used another Kenny K image called Val Ventura and I thought she looked perfect for the theme of travel with some jungle type foliage and papers.  Quite a simple card really, the leaves are spellbinders and the flowers are ebay.  The papers are Prima Melody and the 'explore' tags are a print and cut embellishment from my digital die cutter.

I am entering this card in the below competitions:

Do You Stack Up - Texture
Die Cut Dreams - Flower Power
By the Cute and Girly - All things bright and beautiful

Thanks so much for looking at my blog, and good luck to everyone in these challenges,

Anyway, this is my DT card for Charisma Cardz where this week our theme is 'Anything Goes'! :)  We are sponsored by Simon Says Stamp and Pink Cat Studio, and dont forget you can always share your creations on our Facebook page too, where there is often an exclusive mini prize.

Continuing in my theme this week, I have used another steampunk image, this time from Kenny K, and there was so much detail on this it was just lovely to colour.  I have again used Prima papers, MS doily lace punch, and the swirly whirly background panel was cut on my digi-cutter.  The pearl cluster strips were from QVC and the metal star brads were from ancient stash :)

Anything But Square - One Stop Craft Challenge

Morning my lovelies :)  Another scheduled post from me, as I am still without t'internet until 1st September - (I am really missing blogging) :(

So, this is my DT card for One Stop Craft Challenge where this week our theme is 'Anything But Square', and we are sponsored by Stitchy Stamps. Check out the rest of the DT's creations, they are fab!

Now next week I will be mostly making......'Steampunk' style cards.  I had a couple of days practising my colouring and blending with Flex-markers and Pro-markers, and got quite carried away, so I am on a bit of a roll with them.

The flex markers are quite juicy and so I kind of used them for a bit of foundation and fluidity, and as they are mostly very pale shades, you wouldnt believe how many I used in this pic!..  Im still loving the PM Fine Nibs, as I naturally favour very dark, rich shades IRL, and the precision application has given me a lot more confidence to experiment.

I was also inspired by a recent trip to my blogging friend Paula.  She has been sharing her progress on a colouring course, and I was quite taken by the tips for colouring cylindrical objects, so the top hat in this pic was almost a breeze! :)  I used a Kenny K image and Prima Botanical papers.  The gears, keys and clock wings were cut from my Silhouette digi die cutter, and I dug out some old peel offs for the chains.

I am entering this card in the below competitions:

Kenny K - Layers
Totally Gorjuss - As You Like It.
Papertake Weekly - Dies to Die for - Spellbinders and digi-dies.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog today, and I really, really cant wait to get back to normal and visit everyone soon! :)

Live Without Fear

Well this was very nearly the last card I was ever going to make!!... I was searching high and low for black card (one of my 'must haves') and couldnt find any anywhere :(  Its quite hard to find online (I dont have craft shops nearby) and its quite expensive too, so I was in a bit of a panic and spent hours trawling through my stuff to find some.

Luckily (phew) I found a few more pieces, but if anyone knows where you can buy it quite reasonably, then please give me a shout. :)

So, onto the card (lol)  This card is for the Kenny K Krafty Girlz challenge this week which is 'circles'.  I came across this 12x12 March Johnson paper in my stash, and couldnt bear to cut up the sentiment, so I have used a 10x7 inch rectangle card which is mahoosive! :)  This shape doesnt appear too well on a blog though does it but if you click the image it will enlarge.

I usually print my digi images in bulk, so they are set after a few days, but I only had one of these images printed.  It took several attempts to get the colourway right on this though as my ivory promarker kept smudging the black ink as it was freshly printed.  Now over on Minas blog there is a digi-stamp tutorial for watercolouring etc. and it recommended heating the image with a heat gun a few times to set the ink.  This worked a total treat, so thank you Mina for that. :)

I used some metal corners from stash, Nesties and Marianne doily dies, MgGill branch punch and Roses from WOC.  The Epoxy sentiment is also March Johnson (I have no idea when or where I got them!), and I have distressed the edges of the paper.  I also used Sakura pens to add a bit of sparkle to the branch punches and also the image (not clear on pic).

I am entering this card in the below competitions:

Allsorts challenge - Sentiment
Paper Sundaes - 3 toppings, Flowers, Distressing and Pink (2nd entry)
Creative Inspirations - Distressing
One Stitch at a Time - Make it pretty - 3rd entry

Cute Card Thursday - Shiny and glossy - epoxy sentiment sticker and metal corners
PaperPlay challenges - Add Shine - epoxy sentiment and metal corners, also glitter pens and bling
Dutch Dare - Sparkle, glitter and bling

Thanks so much for looking, and I hope everyone has a fab weekend.  Good luck to everyone in these challenges :)

Red Hot Valentine

Back again today with another card to share :)

I wasnt going to make any more 'lurrve or valentines' cards, but I was having a good old rummage through my stash looking for something completely different, when I found this old red paper pack from Habico, which I have had for yonks!  It had such fabulous textured hand-made papers that there was really only one thing for it .......... a bit of passion! ;)

I coloured this great Kenny K image (Allura) with pro-markers and glitter pens, and then cunningly transformed some old brown brads with a black promarker, glossy accents and black glitter. ;)  The brads really were essential, as hand-made paper is not only evil to cut straight (why is that?) but its also quite difficult to stick down! (tut) :)  I dont normally put brads through my main card, so I capped them on the inside with black card candy dots (which i thought was a genius idea!) lol.

I am entering this card into the below challenges as Valentines, Love, Hearts and Red seem to be very popular this week :)

KennyK KraftyGirlz - Photo inspiration

Love Heart

I hadnt planned to make a card today, but I kind of just drifted into it..... :)  Well I have to do something to pass the time whilst waiting 2 hours for web-pages to load! lol :D

So I used this fab digi-stamp from Kenny K which I fell in love with when I first saw it over on my blogging buddy Suzilou's blog. She is fantastic at colouring, and thats a real inspiration to me.
I followed the great sketch by Bev over on the Krafty Girlz challenge blog and the challenge over on Charisma Cardz this week is to use numbers on your project.  I used this great quote from Winnie The Pooh, and hope this counts :)

Close up of the sentiment:

I used some old patterned card from stash (Kanban I think?) and I glittered black (Wild Orchid) roses.  I made my own pins from jewellery findings and crafty bitz and bobs, (I like to do that kind of thing ;))

I am entering this card in the below challenges:

Rock Star

What nightmare this was to photograph! :) lol.  It was like pulling teeth!..... mirri board - tut!

Anyway, I hope everyone has had a great start to the weekend :) I made this card today following the sketch over at Simon Says Stamp and the theme of Black, White and Silver at Paper Playtime using the gorgeous Kenny K digi-stamp 'Star'.

Now I hope that the divine Richard Armitage isnt reading this blog, or it will spoil the valentines card surprise! :D  LOL......kidding! Its for my gorgeous husband David (h'obviously), but it wont be a surprise to him either, as his nose was poking in all over the place while I was making this.  Guess I have to send it to him now then! ;)

I used black embossed DP, and printed my own sentiment.  I used a quickie glue pen on the letters and went to town with the black glitter.   I have attached 3 dangle charms to give it some movement, and used my MS punch for the borders.  This card is 8x8 inches.

I am entering this card in the below competitions:

Kenny K Krafty Girlz - Love You.  My little stars have 'love' written on them.
Simon Says Stamp - Great Sketch
