One World

'We must recognise that the suffering of one person or one nation is the suffering of humanity.'

His Holiness the Dalai lama

I am a very spiritual person.  I am a very political person.  I have opinions and thoughts about everything that affects me, my family, my country and the world.  I vowed when I started my blog, I would not indulge my myself and pass my thoughts or opinions onto others without being asked.

but...

....after the shocking and devastating events in Japan on Friday, I like most people found myself absorbed in nothing but the news.  At many times I cried as feelings of helplessness and powerlessness swept over me, and I just could not believe the terrible images I was seeing.

My heart, my thoughts and sincerest wishes go out to the Japanese nation at this time.

Recent weeks have also seen global events unsettling the world as we are forced to face powerful images of bloodshed and fighting in the Middle East.  When governments and armed forces turn against their own people as they try to fight for liberty, freedom and equality, something is wrong.  For the Libyan people caught in unrest and civil war - I hope they find the strength and courage to do whats right for them and that the situation can be resolved without further bloodshed.

I needed to express from the heart today, as being part of the blogging community I know that whilst this is fun, none of us are detached from the real world.

Have a great day, and take care.

So true...we are all in this together. It's so sad. And reality says that, little 'ole me, in Nebraska, can't do much to help. I enjoyed reading your post, just about as much as viewing your beautiful cards. They are both very inspiring!

I enjoyed reading your post Alison, I feel exactly the same! We're all in this together.
And it's not just the people, the animals are suffering aswell.
It's difficult to realize what's happening...
I say like you, my heart, my thoughts and sincerest wishes go out to the Japanese nation at this time.

Take care Alison.
Hugs, Heidi.

Agree whole heartily. Those poor people and animals, just trying to survive now, my prayers go up to each and everyone, I come here on blog land and sort of leave the real world behind for awhile, here there is no wars, no fighting, no one is sick or going hungry, but as soon as the power shuts off its back to the real world, all we can do is pray.. I love your post today!

Hi, Alison. I just loved reading your post. As if I was reading my own thoughts. I also had in mind a 'cardmaking' blog and decided to refrain from discussing politics, pain, wars or human misery. But what's happening these days in the world affects us all and we cannot just pretend everything's all right.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the Japanese people these days but we shall pray for the entire world population because I fear even worse for the future.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Hugs sweetie and take care!

Hi Alison, I totally agree with you. At moments this world troubles me a lot and it;s so devastating to see what's happenend in Japan. And as if they didn't have enough, a huge nuclear treat on top of it.....my heart breaks
And all the wars going on in the world, the hunger, ill treatment of animals...it makes me sad
Our blogs are normally for expressing nice things, but sometimes you need to relieve your heart and a blog is than a great way to share thoughts

big hug

Totally agree with everything you say Alison. I have been feeling so full of despair at the events around the world. Many times I've wondered why I persist with keeping my blog - after all it's so meaningless when compared to what is happening around us. However, I have realised that my 'meaningless' blog and the blogging community help me to cope with what is happening. xxx

A thoughtful & appropriate post - we are human & therefore it matters.
Thanks for this Alison, I too made certain resolutions when I began my blog but there are times when matters have to be voiced.
Much love
Paula (PEP)
